From Filmmaking to Philanthropy: Tiffany Toney’s Next Act with Adam Johnson, Dr. Pink MD.

How a filmmaker’s personal health battle became the foundation of a life-changing partnership.

Tiffany Toney has built her career on betting on herself. As the writer, executive producer, and star of BORA — an independent feature spotlighted during Sundance and Cannes that earned her speaking engagements at both festivals and successfully streamed on Amazon Prime, Tubi, and Comcast — she has proven that a non-white female filmmaker can build something from nothing, own it completely, and watch it move rooms she never imagined being in.

But behind the accolades and the standing ovations, something was quietly going wrong.

For two years, Toney was sick and nobody could tell her why. Rashes. Vertigo. Debilitating joint pain. Brain fog so thick she could not remember lines she had rehearsed a hundred times. Hair loss she could not hide on set. Doctor after doctor offered the same non-answer — stress, anxiety, the pace of her life catching up with her.

It was none of those things.

What Toney was experiencing was Breast Implant Illness — a condition not yet carrying an official medical diagnosis, which is precisely why so many women spend years suffering without answers. When she finally connected the dots, the decision that followed was one of the hardest of her life. As an actress, her body had always felt inseparable from her career. Removing her implants meant stepping off a cliff without knowing what was below.

She stepped off anyway. And had her implants removed. Slowly, she began to feel like herself again.

Two years after her explant, Toney met Dr. Adam L. Johnson — known to most as Dr. Pink MD.

A breast surgical oncologist and founder of The Pink Kingdom LLC, Dr. Pink MD leads an organization built on the belief that breast health care should be as much about empowerment as it is about medicine. He educates. He advocates. He meets patients in the full weight of what it means to make life-altering decisions about your body in a world that does not always arm you with the information you need to make them well.

When the two sat down together, it became clear almost immediately that their paths had crossed for a reason.

Dr. Pink MD lost several family members to breast cancer, including his mom. He did not simply choose this field — grief pointed him toward his purpose, and he was brave enough to follow it. That purpose extends beyond the operating room. A certified yoga teacher and reiki healer, Dr. Pink MD has spent his career merging the precision of western medicine with the philosophy of holistic healing — believing that true recovery addresses not just the body, but the whole person. It is an approach as uncommon as it is necessary.

Toney understood that completely. Her grandmother had a double mastectomy. Her mother left a career in accounting to work in breast cancer treatment. And in the same year she met Dr. Pink MD, her best friend was diagnosed with breast cancer in her thirties.

Two people. Two different roads through the same storm. And a shared conviction that the information women need — real information, delivered without shame or judgment — is still not reaching everyone who needs it.

What they are building together is a bridge.

The Watch Her Glow Foundation sits at the intersection of entertainment and medicine — using storytelling, education, and advocacy to reach the women who are still sitting in doctors’ offices being dismissed. Through their partnership, Toney and Dr. Pink MD are committed to changing the conversation around breast health, BII awareness, and safe cosmetic surgery practices, one story at a time.

“I’m not anti-cosmetic surgery, I’m pro-education and it’s a joy to bring that education to women so they can make more informed choices”  Tiffany Toney

Toney has always believed that the most powerful stories are the ones you live, before you tell them.

This one…she and Dr. Pink MD are telling together.
